Abstract:
DREB2A (dehydration responsive element binding protein 2A) is an important transcription factor involved in drought- inducible gene expression in plant. DREB2A proteins are able to bind regulatory elements DRE/CRT specifically as well as interact with the DNA polymerase subunits to form transcriptional complex. In Zea mays, the mRNA splicing process will create ZmDREB2A-S mRNA form, thus
induce drought tolerance genes. In this study, the artificial ZmDREB2A-S gene which contains complete coding region for a functional protein consisting of 318 amino acids has been designed. The expression cassette ubi:: ZmDREB2A-S::35S ter was cloned into the pCAMBIA1300 vector and then introduced into A. tumefaciens cells to produce materials for further plant drought tolerance researches.
